Washington Opera Society Postpones ‘The Tales of Hoffman’

By Francisco Salazar

Washington Opera Society has postponed its Sept. 17 performances of “The Tales of Hoffman.”

The organization announced that due to “circumstances beyond its control” the company has pushed the production back to 2022.

As a result, ticket holders will be notified and will either receive a refund, a credit or have the option of making a contribution. The company did, however, note that it will be announcing concerts with leading singers in October, November, and December. “The Tales of Hoffman” was set to star Lisa Chavez, Michael Boley, Rochelle Bard, Kevin Short, and Simon Charette.

This season the Washington Opera Society is also set to present Kalman’s “The Countess Maritza” with Julien Benichou conducting.
