U.S. Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker selects six golfers to round out team

U.S. Ryder Cup captain Steve Stricker made his team official on Wednesday, filling out his arsenal of pros ahead of the big golf event on starting Sept. 24.

Tony Finau, Xander Schauffele, Jordan Spieth, Harris English, Daniel Berger and Scottie Scheffler have been named to Team U.S.A. They join Collin Morikawa, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay.

This will be the first Ryder Cup for Schauffele, English, Berger, Scheffler, Cantlay and Morikawa.

Stricker made the announcement from Whistling Straights in Wisconsin, where the season-ending event will take place.

The U.S. team is looking to take back Ryder Cup bragging rights after Team Europe won the tournament in 2018 in France. Team Europe has won seven of the last nine Ryder Cups dating back to 2002.

Team Europe captain Padraig Harrington is still in the process of putting together his team, which currently includes qualifiers Rory McIlroy, Paul Casey, Viktor Hovland, Tommy Fleetwood and John Rahm. Earlier Wednesday, Harrington talked to reporters about what players like Rahm and McIlroy bring to his team.
