The Golden State Warriors came into the offseason looking to make a splash. They had missed the postseason for a second consecutive season, losing to the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Stephen Curry proved once again that he still can play at a high level, finishing third in the MVP voting behind Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid. Now, the Warriors were looking to upgrade the roster around him once again.

Golden State is patiently awaiting the return of Klay Thompson, who has not played since the 2019 NBA Finals because of a torn ACL and Achilles injury. It will take some time to knock off the rust, but he has looked good in videos of him working on his game.

Draymond Green is still in town, but the Warriors’ core is aging. It was time to get some new blood on the roster, and they have done that with their last two drafts.

James Wiseman was selected No. 2 overall in the 2020 NBA Draft. This year, the Warriors had two lottery picks, taking Jonathan Kuminga seventh and Moses Moody 14th. They could very well be the new core of the Warriors going forward or trade chips to land an established star.
