There’s no denying the chance of the Golden State Warriors adding a third star prior to the season’s commencement is slim. They have the tradeable assets, but it seems more likely they keep them to see what they’re capable of before jumping ship entirely.

For the Dubs, there’s no way they are able to acquire a player like Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard without giving up both Jonathan Kuminga and James Wiseman. Even if Lillard wants out, it’s still a long shot that his request is honored given the magnitude of player he is.

The Golden State Warriors may not have much of a chance at Damian Lillard, but it does look like they have a close connection to the star.

However, let’s assume there was a bit of chatting going on at the Team USA camp, there’s a chance if he wants out Lillard could join the Warriors, especially as it’s clear he has a good relationship with three-time All-Star Draymond Green.

Green was helpful in the Team USA Gold Medal run this past summer in Tokyo. After winning gold, Green found himself an invite to Lillard’s prestigious wedding, one in which he was “straight turnt” at.

The relationship there, along with the fact that Lillard has to know two-time MVP Stephen Curry and five-time All-Star Klay Thompson well, would bode positively for the Warriors, a team that would certainly be in the market for Lillard if he were to come available.

The Warriors have everything it would take to get a top-tier player. While the superstar may not exactly be in the Dubs game plan, he does have everything that would take their roster to a level above the rest of the league.

Combine their assets with the fact that the relationship is there between at least one of the stars and Lillard, and it makes it much more feasible to think that he could force his way out and aim for Golden State as his next home.

Lillard to Golden State has obviously very slim chances of happening, but given these truths, it’s not out of the question.
