'South Of Heaven' Trailer: Jason Sudeikis Goes Dramatic In A New Thriller Co-Starring Evangeline Lilly & Shea Whigham

Over the past couple of years, Jason Sudeikis has been delighting fans with his sweet, award-winning performance as the title character in the comedy series, “Ted Lasso.” Before that, he was probably best known for his character work during his long tenure at ‘SNL.’ But now, in the upcoming film, “South of Heaven,” fans are going to see a Jason Sudeikis they haven’t really seen before.

As seen in the trailer for the new thriller, “South of Heaven,” the film stars Sudeikis as a convicted felon that is released on early parole to spend time with his terminally ill girlfriend. However, while he’s trying to live a crime-free life and enjoy his last year with his partner, he gets put in the middle of a dangerous situation involving a local crime boss and a corrupt parole officer.

Joining Sudeikis in the cast are Evangeline Lilly, Shea Whigham, and Mike Colter. “South of Heaven” is directed by Aharon Keshales, who is probably best known for his 2013 film, “Big Bad Wolves.”

Here’s the synopsis:

Convicted felon Jimmy (Jason Sudeikis) gets early parole after serving twelve years for armed robbery. Upon his release he vows to give his girlfriend Annie (Evangeline Lilly), who is dying of cancer, the best last year of her life. But things are never that simple, and when he is given a “side job” from his parole officer (Shea Whigham), it sets off a series of events that leaves Jimmy in the crosshairs of a local crime boss (Mike Colter). Now, he must stop at nothing to save Annie and fight for whatever time they have left.
