"[Cat's] out of the [bag]. #MeganHunt is back on @greysabc this season! Thank you to this glorious team & historic show for having me! @kristavernoff," she wrote, tagging Grey's Anatomy showrunner Krista Vernoff.

Grey's Anatomy confirmed the news on its official Twitter account.

"Welcome back Dr. Megan Hunt! @abigailspencer is coming BACK to Grey + Sloan #GreysAnatomy," the post reads.

TV Line said Spencer will have a recurring role as Megan, beginning with the Season 18 premiere. Spencer previously appeared on the show in Seasons 14 and 15.

Megan is a former U.S. Army trauma surgeon and the younger sister of Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd). She was last living in Los Angeles with her adopted son, Farouk (Bardia Seiri).

ABC previously announced that Kate Burton and Kate Walsh will return to Grey's Anatomy in Season 18. Burton will reprise Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) late mom, Ellis Grey, while Walsh will reprise Dr. Addison Montgomery.

In addition, Peter Gallagher has joined the Season 18 cast.

Season 18 will premiere Sept. 30 at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
