Meet the Mets

The Mets started off their series against the Marlins with a win on Tuesday night, winning 9-4. Powered by their bats, specifically two monstrous home runs from Pete Alonso, his 100th and 101st of his career, the Mets were able to stay within striking distance in both the NL East and the NL Wild Card,

Sandy Alderson revealed on Tuesday afternoon that Jacob deGrom had a UCL sprain that has since healed.

Alderson said deGrom’s ligament is “intact” and that the injury which was originally described as inflammation is not an issue at this time, and that the team is ramping him up to see if this injury is a chronic issue related to mechanics.

Alderson also said he has not discussed his job status past this season with owner Steve Cohen but that he expects to as part of season-end conversations with Cohen.

With his 100th home run, Pete Alonso is the second fastest to that mark in MLB history.

Billy Beane and Chris Antonetti are among the candidates that could be hired to run the Mets.

After crushing the Brewers in the first game of the series, the Phillies lost to Milwaukee 10-0 on Tuesday.

The Nationals were unable to help out the Mets, losing to the Braves 8-5.

Around Major League Baseball

Albert Pujols returned to St. Louis last night in grand style, hitting a home run in his first at-bat of the game.

Gerrit Cole exited his start versus the Blue Jays early due to hamstring tightness, while the Blue Jays beat the Yankees for their sixth straight win to get even closer to the second Wild Card spot.

If the Mariners were to host postseason games, all fans over the age of 12 would be required to show proof of vaccination.

Both the Yankees and Mets’ seasons will be summed up in the final 20-plus games of the season.
