Relay for Life organizers grateful for support

Montgomery County Relay for Life was held from noon to 9 p.m. July 17. To begin the day, we had the first Relay for Life Benefit Pageant – Indiana. We hope to have it annually with the Relay. Pageant winners are: Baby Miss Kaislie Johnson; Baby Mister Leo Charron; Little Miss Auna Zent; Toddler Miss Gracelyn Parrish; Toddler Mister Memphis Beard; Preteen Miss Zoe Thomas; Preteen Mister Michael; Teen Miss Skileigh Mills; Elegant Miss Stephanie Zent; People Choice Leo Charron; Most Photogenic Evangeline Charron.

Judges were as follows: Nichelle Miller and Beth Waterman. Official Tabulator was Diedre Robinson. Directors were Alyson Nicely, Skye Smith and Nikita Klotzscheh.

I want to thank the contestants for participating, the judges and all the other people who helped make the pageant wonderful.

We want to thank the people that performed during the opening ceremony: Lynn Robison, Emery Allen, Pastor Craig Carrell and Kaye Francis.

Now we want to thank the people that performed through out the day: Dustin Gardner, Waylon Gomez, Tara Brant, Alissa Harwood, Alexa Livengood, Shelly Leatherman (Lord’s Prayer), Shawn Condra (Prayer), Daniel Rivers, Shelby Rivers and Stephany Condra.

We want to thank the DJ Bill Douglas, he did a really good job.

Becky and I need to thank Cheryl Green. She did an excellent job with the whole program. From opening ceremony to closing ceremony. Thank you we appreciate your hard work you put into the relay.

We had a good turn out for the relay and we had a survivors meal. I want to thank Tom Emerson for baking the turkeys for us and thank Mary Jane and Jerry Renick for preparing the rest of the meal and Becky Miller made a salad. We had a decorated cake contest.

Carol Roberts won the contest, we used the cakes for our desert to go with the survivors meal.

Phyllis Patton also donated pies. We had quite a bit of food left over, so we left it there at the armory for the men, for the next day, they were having classes.

I want to thank the Park and Rec for letting us use Pike Place for our kick off and to thank Dr. Barry Mathison for speaking at the kick off we appreciate your support.

We also thank those who put luminaries all along Pike Street where the Farmers Market is. I want to thank Lisa for the help she gave us and for letting us sell luminaries there. We also want to thank Sgt. First Early for arranging for us to be able to have the Relay at the Crawfordsville Armory.

We also need to thank his men for setting up the tables and chairs and they took them down to. There had to be a person there from the Armory the whole time we were there, so we need to thank them to.

I want to thank the manager of the Holiday Express for allowing us to have our meetings there.

I think if I summed this letter up in a few words it would be one great big heart felt thank you to everyone who made this relay possible. We hope to have many more and each one better than the last.

Just to let people know, we are having a golf scramble Saturday at the Municipal Golf Course. Sign-up is at 9 a.m. and play at 10 a.m. Four-man teams are $45 per person. There also will be a Ladies Night Out 5-9 p.m. Nov. 15 at the Masonic Temple. Tickets will be $12.
