A new site recently released by the Douglas County Health Department may help you decide where to eat next.
DCHD released the restaurant inspection rating site that provides health inspection ratings for the 2,793 restaurants, schools and food or drink trucks around Omaha
The site is an interactive map that shows who scored high and who scored low.
The map is easy to use, type in the restaurant you want to visit and their rating and location comes up.
The ratings range from superior to below minimum standards
Here's what that means:
Superior-- is pretty much perfect, if there are any problems, the business takes care of them before or during the inspection.
Standard-- means there are some problems but they're not bad and are corrected regularly
Fair-- means they're barely meeting minimum standards as required by local and state food safety codes. It means inspections are needed often.
After looking for a particular place you may not see see your favorite place but don’t worry it doesn’t mean they were shut down because of a failed inspection.
a restaurant not listed could simply mean it's too new or it's closed temporarily for some reason or another.
If you want to know why a particular rating was given you will have to request a copy of the inspection report.
