With the Seattle Kraken on the cusp of opening up the organization's inaugural training camp before the team's maiden voyage that is the 2021-22 season, the team took care of some outstanding business by inking their last remaining RFA to a new contract.

The Kraken announced on Tuesday that they have signed defenseman Dennis Cholowski to a one-year, two-way deal worth $900K at the NHL level. The 23-year-old was the Kraken's expansion draft pick from the Detroit Red Wings.

Cholowski, a 1st-round pick by Detroit in 2016, split time between the Red Wings and their AHL affiliates, the Grand Rapids Griffins in each of his last 3 seasons, recording just 3 points in 16 games with the big club last season, but making noticeable strides in his game between last season's demotion and his call-up following the trade deadline.

Seattle Kraken GM Ron Francis had this to say regarding the young, promising blueliner:

"Dennis is a young defenseman with offensive upside that we were excited to add to our group. We like his strong skating and puck moving ability and are looking forward to working with him."

With Cholowski signed, the Kraken currently have just under $7.5M in available cap space.
