Jefferson County Commissioners Court has approved entering into contract negotiations with companies that'll do airport upgrades. It's the largest project since the airport was built.
Airport manager Alex Rupp says they received about $18 million from the CARES Act.
About $6 million went toward payroll. As for the remaining $12 million, the county is using that to remodel the general aviation terminal, the Jerry Ware Terminal, as well as on runway work, and work on signs, fences and drainage.
