We all remember where we were on September 11th, 2001.  Whether we were at school, work, or at home with our families, it is a day none of us will soon forget.  This Saturday marks the 20th anniversary of this iconic day and the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Iowa Chapter 39-4 is doing its part to make the most of it.

They are hosting a 9/11 Remembrance and Unity Ride this Saturday, September 11th starting at Brenny's Motorcycle Clinic at 11AM with a First Responder Ceremony and Event Registration.  The ride will be kickstands up at 1PM and include several stops along its way towards a remembrance stop at the Dewitt Veterans Memorial.  The final stop will be at MJ's in Dewitt where there will be food, live music by Got Your Six, as well as many different raffle drawings.  Including the grand prize, a 2021 Indian motorcycle.

I spoke with Jon Laxon, CVMA Chapter Commander, and he told me that the group has organized many events to help out veterans in the area.  The inaugural 9/11 ride began in 2019 and the chapter raffled a customized bike that was purchased from a veteran.

We weren't sure how many bikes we would have in 2019, but they just kept showing up.

COVID put a halt to plans for a 2020 ride, but Laxon said they were glad to be coming back for 2021.  They will also be doing a Christmas cookie walk this year, as well as a chili cook-off in January.  Proceeds from all of these events go to help out local veterans.  From remodeling bathrooms and replacing roofs on homes, the chapter has also installed over 40 handicap accessible ramps for veterans.

If you are interested in purchasing raffle tickets for the Indian motorcycle, or if you would like to donate to Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association IA Chapter 39-4 you can check out their Facebook page, or contact Jon Laxon at 563-219-6233.

Ghost In Our Iowa Basement?

As a radio station, we have a lot of people here who have seen some scary stuff. Do you see any ghosts in these photos? I can't, but I also don't know what to look for.

This Isn't The First Face Caught On Camera Here!
In September of 2020 the band "Pit Lord" came to the building to shoot a music video. They shot it in the basement and for a split second in the recording, you can make out a face of what looks to be a woman. You can see that video here.

With a history of ghosts, it's safe to say the basement of our building is CREEPY!
