Elle Duncan was like every other Georgia fan on Saturday night, and even into Sunday and Monday. The ESPN broadcaster was elated after the Bulldogs’ impressive victory over Clemson.

Why wouldn’t she be? Georgia began the season ranked No. 5 in the AP Top 25 poll, knocked off No. 3 Clemson in Charlotte and has since moved up to the No. 2 spot. It seems like it’s going to be a great season in Athens this year.

But on Tuesday, Duncan realized there may not be that much of a reason for her and Bulldogs fans to be happy. And she shared why during an appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show.”

“What did the biggest win in the last 3 years like give us? A chance to still contend for a chance to get beat by Alabama in the SEC Championship?” Duncan said. “Like I’m extremely confused as to what that accomplished. What it did was quiet any doubters, maybe question whether Clemson had what it takes to repeat. But like outside of that, Paul, you’ve seen what’s happened to us.

“And let me just stop the Georgia fan right now who is like, ‘Oh, this is so unfair. You’re so cynical. These young men, they work so hard, it’s not their fault.’ I get that. It isn’t their fault. But guess what? It’s not my fault, either, OK? I put just as much into this as they have. Do you know how hard it is, Paul, to do what I do when literally where you’re from is known for blowing it?”

Maybe Duncan is right. Or perhaps she’ll be proved wrong later this year. But it’s too early to tell.

For now, Georgia will look to keep rolling. The Bulldogs are set to host UAB in their home opener on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
