LEXINGTON - A positive COVID-19 test kept John Calipari from attending the NBA draft earlier this summer.
Now, the Hall of Fame coach wants to make sure Kentucky basketball fans sign up for the COVID-19 vaccine, so they can experience only mild symptoms if they contract the virus like he did.
Calipari had been vaccinated before his breakthrough infection, which came shortly after he spend part of a week recruiting at the Peach Jam basketball tournament in South Carolina. Calipari said he previously declined to disclose the infection out of fear the news might discourage others from taking the vaccine.
