Benton County safety day camp is set to teach farm safety to children third through sixth grade.
The free event will feature 10 safety stations. All third through sixth grade students in Benton and Linn County are invited to participate. The event is on Saturday, September 25 at the Benton County Fairgrounds from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
The highest rate of farm injuries occurs between children ages 5-14, but any age is welcome. The event is aimed t address issues relevant to farm environments. The topics covered include ATV Safety, First Aid, Combine Safety, Lawn Mower Safety, 911 Emergency, Grain Safety, Pinch Point/PTO Safety, Chemical Safety, Sun Safety and Accident Survivor.
Each child who participates will receive a snack, lunch, t-shirt, and educational materials for free.
The registration deadline is on Tuesday, September 21. Total attendees are limited.
