Is Stranger Things season 4 still filming? Has season 4 finally wrapped?

The wait for Stranger Things season 4 has been long. It’s been longer than anyone would have expected even factoring in the pandemic and the COVID protocols set in place for filming.

The cast and crew started production on season 4 in the fall of 2020. Almost a full year has gone by. Thankfully, it seems filming has finally wrapped.

Netflix Life reported the news, which has yet to be confirmed, on Sunday, September 25 after rumors began circulating thanks to a tweet from @StrangerNews11, a fan account that posts news and filming updates on the Netflix original series.

This news is likely true considering Enola Holmes 2, Millie Bobby Brown’s next Netflix project is set to start filming in London in the first week of October. So Stranger Things season 4 is finally about to head into post-production which means we’re on our way to its debut on Netflix!

Stranger Things season 4 release date

It’s already been confirmed that Stranger Things season 4 will make its landing on the streamer in 2022. The only question left is when.

We’ve already crossed early 2022 off our list of possible dates. The Witcher season 2 releases on Netflix in December 2021. The streamer is going to want to put space between the highly anticipated new seasons of two juggernaut series for the platform. Not to mention a 4-6 month post-production window would be an incredibly quick turn around for a show as special effects heavy as Stranger Things.

However, an 8-month window does leave open the rumored April 2022 premiere for season 4. That’s likely the earliest we’ll see the fourth season. Bar that month, it might land in summer 2022, but we doubt fans will be waiting until the fall for the show’s return.
