Jota reveals stance on possible permanent Celtic transfer

Celtic signed Jota from Benfica on a season-long loan deal with an option to buy on the deadline day of the recently concluded summer transfer window. It is certainly one of the club’s most exciting moves of the summer, especially considering the fact that we don’t know what to expect from the Portuguese winger.

While coming through the youth ranks, he was one of the most-highly rated youngsters in world football and not too long ago was being linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Things have not quite gone as most would have expected for him at the senior level though. He failed to establish himself as a starter in the Benfica first-team and spent the previous season on loan at Real Valladolid, where he did not have a great campaign either.

Now at Parkhead, the Hoops will have the option to sign him on a permanent basis next summer. Jota has revealed his stance regarding a permanent move in the future. While speaking on the club’s official YouTube channel and as reported by 67 Hail Hail, he said:

"“I don’t think on that. I just want to keep playing football. The terms are the terms, and the most important thing for me right now is just to play.“I want just to forget about anything else, and try to enjoy a lot. To meet the players, to get the dynamic, and help them as much as I can.“That’s my idea and the focus.”"

Jota is a very exciting signing for Celtic

It will be very interesting to see how Jota does for the Hoops this season. While he has not quite been able to find his feet at the senior level till now, the talent has never been in question with him. What is most exciting about the signing is perhaps the fact that nobody knows what to expect.

A fantastic dribbler of the ball, he has the ability to glide past defenders and has shown that he has an eye for goal as well while coming up through the youth ranks.

Now, it remains to be seen if Ange Postecoglou can get the best out of the 22-year-old. It is believed that the Hoops have an option to buy included in the loan deal, which is slightly over £6 million.
