Manchester City duo Ederson and Gabriel Jesus could find themselves banned from playing in Saturday’s Premier League clash at Leicester, thanks to a FIFA ruling.

The pair were not released by City for Brazil’s three international matches as they would have to quarantine for ten days upon their return, however FIFA can ban players not released in an international window for a period of five days after the window ends.

European Clubs’ Association chief executive Charlie Marshall has said that the Premier League clubs need to know if their players are suspended for the weekend’s round of matches and they must be told within the next 24 hours.

Aston Villa and Spurs allowed their players - Emiliano Buendia, Emiliano Martinez, Cristian Romero and Giovani lo Celso to travel for Argentina’s matches, and all four must now isolate upon return, meaning they will week three of the Premier League.

Jesus in particular has been in excellent form so far this season, with one goal and three assists, as the striker takes on a wing role with the team.
