While the new Monorail station and porte-cochère of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort have opened, construction is not yet complete on the resort’s updated entrance. But it looks like we might finally be able to walk through the front doors of the Great Ceremonial House again soon.
There are tarps hung around the bottom of the Monorail station to keep guests away from the main entrance for now.
The station has been surrounded with orange and red decorative wall panels.
Monorails are once again stopping at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, with service to Magic Kingdom, Transportation and Ticket Center, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.
Inside the Great Ceremonial House, the front doors remain unavailable and marked as emergency exits only.
From the second floor, we can see down into the area that is still closed off. It looks like all that remains to be completed is some landscaping.
The walkway to the front doors leads under the Monorail bridge.
In the Monorail station, there are fences up on the opposite side from where guests board while final touches are apparently added.
There were a few ladders next to some of the supports.

one heck of a project to still keep the monorails operating. not as nice as the old wood boardwalk, but certainly cheaper to maintain over the long haul. the needed upkeep will be limited to brushing on a new coat of paint. not much concrete in the actual polynesia though.
I was hoping they would put Polynesian patterns on the new cement pillars, like in the architectural renderings. That would hide or distract from the round cement columns. Maybe Disney will do that in the future or after “Cheap Chapek” is gone. Haha!
Finally someone bothered to look down from the new station to check on the final phase of the new front of the Polynesian. Thank you for your great coverage WDWNT. I like the new bridge. This time it looks like a wood bridge. Thumbs up on that one Disney. In all of Disney World this is my favorite spot. I’m from Hawai’i and this area truly feels like home. The new bridge actually improves on near perfection. The plants will keep coming and thicken up like real jungles. The greens department in WDW is one of the best. Can’t wait till the full opening and the new porte cochere, BTW, is the best building at the Polynesian. I’ll be there Sunday!
