Ex-Arsenal star Mesut Ozil ‘unhappy’ after being benched for Fenerbahce as he is linked with MLS transfer

FORMER Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is reportedly 'unhappy' at Fenerbahce after being substituted in recent games.

The 32-year-old linked up with the Super Lig outfit in January after he agreed to terminate his contract at the Emirates.

But according to AS, the ex-Real Madrid ace is already frustrated in Turkey.

Ozil, who was ruled out of Fenerbahce's last game against Altay due to injury, hasn't completed the 90 minutes in any of his four games this term.

The 2014 World Cup winner has started three games, while he came on as a substitute in his last outing against Antalyaspor on August 22.

Fenerbahce boss Vitor Pereira has been giving starlet Muhammed Gumuskaya chances this campaign with the 20-year-old putting in impressive displays.

And AS claim that Ozil is unhappy at being constantly hauled off, which has led to rumours he could be on his way out in January.

They state that a move to America and Qatar could be in the pipeline, with Ozil's recent trip to the latter intensifying speculation regarding his future.

However the three-time FA Cup winner's agent Erkut Sogut has ruled out his client leaving Turkey in the winter transfer window.

He insists Ozil intends to see out his contract at Fenerbahce, which expires in 2024.

Sogut said: "Mesut Ozil grew up with the love of Fenerbahce and now he feels the sensation of wearing that shirt.

"He is very happy, he always gives his best for the success of Fenerbahce.

"There are some footballers who come to Turkey because they cannot find another club.

"Mesut came because he always planned and wanted. Not for money."

On his trip to Qatar, he added: "Mesut will play for Fenerbahce for three more years. Let no one doubt it.

"He went to Qatar for his own commercial and sponsorship negotiations. That is natural.
