Natalie Portman is set to reprise her role as Jane Foster in Thor: Love and Thunder, but she will also be taking on the mantle of Thor. She will be Thor in the film and she worked hard to get in shape to play this character.

There are some photos that have surfaced showing off her new jacked look, a couple of which you can see below. Portman recently opened up about her preparation process for the role revealing in a recent interview with Vanity Fair that she "feels strong for the first time" in her life:

"It was really fun. I worked with a trainer, Naomi Pendergast, for, I think it was, four months before shooting, and then obviously all the way through filming. We did a lot of weight training and a lot of protein shakes—heavyweight training that I haven’t ever done before. Of course, I’ve never really aimed to get bulky. It was very physical, so it was a lot of both agility work and also strength work… It definitely helps you get into character, and it’s definitely changed the way I move. You walk differently; you feel different. I mean, it’s so wild to feel strong for the first time in my life."

Thor: Love and Thunder also stars Chris Hemsworth, who is back as the God of Thunder; Tessa Thompson back in her role of Valkyrie; Chris Pratt will return as Star-Lord along with Pom Klementieff, Dave Bautista, and Karen Gillan; and Christian Bale will play Gore The God Butcher.

I’m excited about Jane Foster’s storyline in this movie as she takes on the mantle of Thor. Jane Foster’s Thor story arc is based on Jason Aaron’s comic book run on The Mighty Thor, the story of which follows a cancer-stricken Jane Foster as she takes up the mantle and powers of Thor. Portman previously teased this storyline, saying:

"I can’t tell you that much. I’m really excited. I’m starting to train, to get muscles. If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is. I’m trying to think — it’s based on the graphic novel of The Mighty Thor. She’s going through cancer treatment and is a superhero on the side."

Thor: Love and Thunder is currently set to arrive in theaters on May 6, 2022.
