Everybody in Foxboro seems to be on The Mac Jones Hype Train. The New England Patriots rookie quarterback has been attracting plenty of attention of late, especially after beating Cam Newton for the team's starting gig under center. And now, former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is also professing his admiration for Jones.

Brees recently participated in an NBC Sports conference and had flowery words to say for Jones.

Via WEEI:

“So as I was watching the draft, the minute the Patriots took Mac Jones at 15th, I said, that’s the steal of the draft,” he said. “It’s probably the guy who is most ready to play NFL quarterback right now, of all the guys who were taken before.”

Those are high praises from one of the greatest ever to do it on the football field. Mac, if you're reading this, this should definitely make you blush.

Jones was taken 15th overall by the Patriots in the 2021 NFL Draft late last April, but before that, he had to hear the names of fellow quarterbacks Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, and Justin Fields first. At the time, the Patriots still had Newton, but they obviously were thinking long-term when they decided to spend a first-round pick on the former Alabama Crimson Tide.

Jones will look to get his first regular-season win in his NFL career on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
