During the ongoing international break, Manchester City star Ayermic Laporte has sustained a muscle injury in the game against Georgia.

More from Man City News

According to the report, doctors have said that the defender felt “overload in his right adductor muscle”.

The 27-year old, who enjoyed a stellar European championship tournament in the summer, has been the starting defender for City in the first three games of the premier league. He even managed to get on the scoresheet against Norwich City.

But he was taken out during half-time in the world cup qualifiers game against Georgia as Spain secured a 4-0 victory.

He has impressed the  City coaching staff recently with his consistency at the heart of the defence and his ability to play passes and hold the ball.

Even though he was linked with a move away from the club in the summer transfer window, the former Atletico Bilbao player has come back this season and proved his worth. He has been brimming with self-confidence and looks to be back at his best.

The 27-year old was not given enough playing time last season by Pep Guardiola and was benched by John Stones, but given the chance, Ayermic Laporte has shined for Manchester City again this season.

It is however worth noting that the final report on Laporte’s injury is not out yet. We expect the report to come before Wednesday when Spain play Kosovo in their last international game during the break.

An injury to Ayermic Laporte can be costly for Manchester City as they are said to play six times in the span of 17 days in September. An injury to an important player of the squad can prove to be dangerous for the Sky Blues.

An injury for Laporte can mean that John Stones gets a chance to reclaim his spot in the starting line-up.
