CALDWELL WOMAN KILLED IN POSSIBLE DISTRACTED DRIVING CRASH

A Caldwell woman was killed over the weekend in a crash in Burleson County that DPS says may have been caused by distracted driving.

The crash occurred Saturday around noon at Highway 36 and FM 1363, near the Chriesman community.

DPS’ preliminary investigation indicates that the driver of a 2019 Jeep SUV headed northbound on Highway 36 was distracted inside the vehicle.  The Jeep, according to DPS, rear-ended a 2017 Ford passenger car that was stopped in the roadway as it prepared to turn onto FM 1363.

The driver of the Ford, 60-year-old Martha Martinez of Caldwell, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the Jeep was not injured.

DPS continues to investigate the accident.
