With the transfer window now closed and the international break currently upon us, now is the time to revisit the recent market activity to see who looks best equipped for the season ahead. Cristiano Ronaldo may be gone, but there is still plenty of star power in Italian soccer's topflight which you can watch exclusively on CBS Sports and Paramount+.

Our rankings.

1 - Inter Milan

What started as a window that risked seeming them at the bottom of the list saw them recover nicely. Despite losing Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi and manager Antonio Conte, Simone Inzaghi's men have retooled impressively with the likes of Denzel Dumfries, Joaquin Correa, Hakan Calhanoglu and Edin Dzeko to keep the quality within the squad high as they chase a title defense.

IN: Correa, Dumfries, Dzeko, Calhanoglu.

OUT: Lukaku, Hakimi, Nainggolan, Young, Joao Mario.

2 - Roma

Jose Mourinho's men have undergone a major facelift and the results are already starting to show on the pitch with Tammy Abraham and Eldor Shomurodov hitting the ground running in front of goal. Significantly they've become much younger with their incoming outfield signings at aged 22, 23, 23 and 26 while their outgoings outfield players, outside of Under, were all north of 30.

IN: Abraham, Shomurodov, Vina, Patricio, Ibanez.

OUT: Florenzi, Lopez, Under, Pedro, Dzeko, Peres, Jesus.

3 - Atalanta BC

Another window of smart transfer dealings has Atalanta well-placed to build on their recent successes but in need of a boost in form on the pitch after the international break. The team has turned the big buck Tottenham paid for Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini into like for like additions at defense and keeper as well as upgrading a slowly aging midfield with a new young prospect in Teun Koopmeiners.

IN: Musso, Koopmeiners, Zappacosta, Demiral.

OUT: Romero, Barrow, Ibanez, Gollini.

4 - AC Milan

Olivier Giroud and Mike Maignan are solid additions and although Gianluigi Donnarumma was a particularly important loss, the sleeping giants look set for another season near the top as they re-establish themselves in the upper reaches. They've also impotantly padded the roster beyond permanent moves with loans for Tiemoué Bakayoko and Alessandro Florenzi.

IN: Giroud, Maignan, Ballo-Toure.

OUT: Donnarumma, Calhanoglu, Hauge.

5 - Lazio

Reworking the squad with the likes of Pedro, Toma, Basic, Felipe Anderson and Elseid Hysaj has already given Maurizio Sarri a squad that he can mold and start to get the best out of as he implements is signature possession style. Though losing Correa will hurt.

IN: Pedro, Basic, Anderson, Hysaj.

OUT: Correa, Caicedo.

6 - Juventus

Losing Ronaldo was never going to be easy, but Moise Kean is a smart move from the Italian giants as they look to rebuild under Massimiliano Allegri and Gianluigi Buffon leaving means that another ageing star is off the books. Meanwhile they've added Manuel Locatelli to a midfield that desperately needed a stable presence at its base and hopes are high for young Brazlian Kaio Jorge.

IN: Kean, Locatelli, Kaio Jorge.

OUT: Ronaldo, Buffon.

7 - Napoli

Not exactly sweeping changes from Luciano Spalletti and still a lot of ageing stars with Lorenzo Insigne's future of particular concern as his contract ticks down but a boost nonetheless. Adding André-Frank Zambo Anguissa is an intriguing addition.

IN: Politano, Zambo Anguissa.

OUT: Hysaj.

8 - Fiorentina

With Nicolas Gonzalez, Lucas Torreira, Matija Nastasic and Alvaro Odriozola in, Vincenzo Italiano can feel happy with the business that Fiorentina have done to boost his squad with Franck Ribery headlining those moved on.

IN: Gonzalez, Torreira, Nastasic, Odriozola.

OUT: Pezzella, Lirola, Ribery.

9 - Udinese

Understated but arguably some of the best business done so far when you look at their early season results with Isaac Success another example of the use of the link with Watford due to the Pozzo ownership group.

IN: Samardzic, Soppy, Success.

OUT: Musso, De Paul, Barak, Scuffet.

10 - Torino

A late flurry of activity has seen the likes of Dennis Praet and Josip Brekalo arrive with the potential to turn around a slow start to the season and captain Andrea Belotti staying was also a plus.

IN: Zima, Brekalo, Praet, Pjaca.

OUT: Lyanco, Meite, Sirigu.

11 - Sassuolo

Subtle changes should keep them in and around the European places without too much fuss, but they will face increased competition from some of the improved sides.

IN: Traore, Toljan.

OUT: Marlon.

12 - Sampdoria

Antonio Candreva does not give a team which still relies on ageing talisman Fabio Quagliarella a shot in the arm in terms of youth, but there is added pedigree there.

IN: Torregrossa, Candreva.

OUT: Jankto, Ramirez.

13 - Verona

A difficult summer could look more positive in a few months if Eusebio Di Francesco can get this team to gel.

IN: Ilic, Barak, Simeone.

OUT: Lovato.

14 - Bologna

Sinisa Mihjalovic was understandably frustrated by Takehiro Tomiyasu's departure, but Musa Barrow and Marko Arnautovic are solid additions with potential to be quality captures if they can hit form.

IN: Barrow, Arnautovic.

OUT: Tomiyasu.

15 - Genoa

Losing quality of Shomurodov's ability will always hurt and the players brought in are not exactly streets ahead of their rivals.

No ad available

IN: Caicedo, Toure, Czyborra.

OUT: Shomurodov,  Lerager.

16 - Salernitana

Ribery's arrival on a free could turn out to be an important piece of business as it not only gives the team a lift after a difficult start, but it also adds leadership and quality to a squad in need of both.

IN: Ribery, Strandberg, Obi.

OUT: Casasola, Durmisi.

17 - Cagliari

Keita Balde and Martin Caceres are gambles with quality and experience to boost a club like Cagliari if they can bed in swiftly.

IN: Marin, Balde, Caceres.

OUT: Sottil, Simeone, Bradaric, Despodov.

18 - Venezia

Ethan Ampadu, Gianluca Busio, Tanner Tessmann and Arnor Sigurdsson are all significant boosts to the squad, but Paolo Zanetti will need to get them to bond quickly if they are to avoid hitting a slump after this tough start to the season.

IN: Busio, Tessmann, Ampadu, Sigurdsson, Peretz.

OUT: Esposito.

19 - Empoli

Juventus result aside, this term could get difficult for Empoli and it is difficult to see too much to be encouraged by in their summer dealings.

IN: Haas, Ismajli & Tonelli.

OUT: Traore, La Gumina & Nikolaou.

20 - Spezia

While the Toulouse pair have potential, Spezia needed more quality this summer and Thiago Motta has a tough task on his hands to keep this group out of danger.

IN: Antiste, Amian.

OUT: Erlic, Ismajli.
