EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has revealed the full details of what will happen when Stacey Slater returns to the BBC One soap after time off our screens.

Fans will know that actress Lacey Turner went on maternity leave earlier this year and gave birth to her second child – a son named Trilby Fox – in February. On the show itself, Stacey is currently serving time for something she didn't do, with now-deleted footage showing that Ruby Allen slipped down the stairs rather than being pushed.

In scenes set to air on Thursday, September 16, Martin Fowler is confused after Lily Slater says Ruby knew that she got weed from Jean's. He also sees a message on Ruby's phone from the police telling her that a drugs-related arrest has been made.

Martin, feeling pretty angry about the whole situation, goes to visit Stacey in prison. He tells her that he feels like he has completely messed up the situation with Ruby.

A shocked Stacey tells Martin that if he doesn't sort Ruby out, she will kill her.

The soap's boss Kate Oates has teased that Stacey has made a new friend named Eve in prison, who continues to be a great help to her on the outside. We wonder what she means by that...

Ruby actress Louisa Lytton is herself going on maternity leave, so it's no surprise that all the drama surrounding her is ramping up before her temporary exit. Oates has described it as "a slightly sticky end", and you can find out what she means by that right here.

EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays on BBC One.
