Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is likely to be pursued by Real Madrid via free transfer next year.

Heading into the 2020-21 English Premier League season, Paul Pogba was heavily linked to a move away from Manchester United.

While the Red Devils managed to keep the World Cup winner in their squad, reputable transfer insider and Eurosport’s Dean Jones speculates that Pogba will once again be a target of big-name clubs, primarily Real Madrid.

According to Jones, Real Madrid will be looking to recruit “higher profile” players in the January transfer window with Pogba among the most viable options.

“Obviously in January he’s going to have offers on the table, and primarily he’ll want to see if Real Madrid come in for him or not if his dream is to go to Real Madrid,” Jones told Give Me Sport.

“And now that they’ve got a deal for [Eduardo] Camavinga done, I think it opens the door for them to focus on higher profile names in 2022, and I think Pogba on a free transfer is obviously one of those that they are going to look into.”

Moreover, Jones also claim that without a doubt, Pogba is also interested in joining Los Blancos.

“And there’s no doubt [Pogba] he’s interested in that,” the insider claimed. “So, I think he’ll just play it out. I don’t think that he’ll sign a new Manchester United deal. I’m not ruling it out completely. But right now, it doesn't seem very likely.”

To put this into context, Pogba’s current deal with Manchester United is set to expire in January 2022, which also means he could leave Old Trafford for free if the club fails to secure a fresh agreement prior.
