Cubs activate INF David Bote (ankle) from IL

The Chicago Cubs activated infielder David Bote off the 10-day injured list on Monday and designated infielder Andrew Romine for assignment.

Bote had been on the injured list since Aug. 28 (retroactive to Aug. 26) due to a sprained right ankle.

Before the injury, the 28-year-old Bote was hitting .202 with eight home runs and 32 RBIs in 78 games.

Bote is in his fourth season with the Cubs. In 324 games, he has a career average of .230 with 32 home runs and 135 RBIs to go with 111 runs scored.

Romine, 35, appeared in 26 games for the Cubs in 2021. He hit .183 with two doubles, one home run and five RBIs. An 11-year veteran, he has a career .233 batting average over 609 games.
