HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A Labor Day meeting of the Marshall University Presidential Search Committee proved productive, according to committee chair Patrick Farrell.
Farrell, who also chairs Marshall’s Board of Governors, tweeted Monday night that more than 100 people from around the world had applied for the job that will open next summer when current President Jerome Gilbert steps down.
Farrell said the search committee narrowed the list Monday and now face-to-face interviews will take place over the next few weeks “with an incredibly talented and diverse group of candidates.”
According to Farrell, if all goes well, a group of finalists will be submitted to the BOG’s executive committee by Sept. 30 with on-campus interviews possibly starting the week of Oct. 11.

A search firm has helped recruit candidates for the job. The committee has also held a number of listening sessions on both the Huntington and South Charleston campuses.
