Ask Pinstripe Alley: Yankees mailbag questions request

The mailbag is in need of questions as the stretch run gets off to a poor start.

Ask Pinstripe Alley

Oh, how fickle a baseball season can be. The highs and lows of sport can arrive in an instant, and last as little as a week or as long as months. The Yankees are hoping that their latest swoon is a case of the former, after losing series to the Angels and Orioles. They made major gains in the wild card standings during their 13-game win streak but barely dented the AL East standings — and the Rays have gained back their advantage and more in the meantime. It would be frustrating to face a third Wild Card game in four opportunities to require the match, but it would take a miracle to avoid such a fate in a positive outcome.

This Yankees team is nearly impossible to fully figure out. Their true talent is high — perhaps one of the strongest in the league — but they failed to put things together consistently for most of the season. That appeared to change after the trade deadline, but recent events have brought back some doubt. Can the Yankees survive the remainder of the stretch run without slipping any further in the playoff race? Will they be able to make a deep run with their propensity to disappear at times? If you’ve got questions like these, or any other concerns, be sure to send them in for a chance to be featured in our Yankees mailbag.

Answers will run on Friday morning. All questions received by the night of September 9th will be considered. You can leave your submissions in the comment section below or by e-mail to pinstripealleyblog [at] gmail [dot] com.
