This Simple Hack Will Give You the Most Delicious Fried Eggs Every Time

Take breakfast to the next level.

What do you do with your leftover bacon grease? If you’re like me and you used to throw it away, stop right there. We’re here to share why you absolutely need to start frying your eggs in that leftover oil.

The Case For Frying Eggs in Bacon Grease

There are so many uses for bacon grease, and this is just one of them. First of all, using the leftover oil to fry your eggs saves you a dish wash. Gone are the days where you’d have to wash two frying pans when making breakfast. Instead, fry your bacon up first, and while it cools, quickly cook your eggs in the hot leftover bacon fat.

Before you argue against it, I urge you to give this trick a chance. Frying your eggs in bacon grease will not only save you time standing over the sink, it will also take your typical, rather boring sunny-side up egg and turn it into a savory masterpiece. Those charred, salty bits sprinkled on top of your egg really adds a dimension of flavor that you won’t be disappointed with.

To be sure, I tested this hack out myself, and let me just say, it did not let me down. When I did it, I made sure to choose bacon that was extra fatty — for the sake of the experiment, of course.

I started by cooking up five pieces of bacon, which was too much for me to eat in one sitting (something my dog was very happy about), but it yielded a pretty decent amount of oil. As soon as the bacon was done cooking, I transferred it to a plate and cracked my eggs right in. They started to turn white and bubble immediately.

The trick with this hack is to continuously baste your egg with the hot oil. Use a spoon to scoop up the oil, and continue pouring it over the eggs until they reach your desired doneness. This technique helps the top of the egg cook while the bottom toasts to crispy perfection. The end result was a soft yoke and the most pillowy egg whites I’ve ever eaten.

The best part is, these eggs required no additional salting after the cooking process was completed. The bacon fat perfectly topped the eggs with a bit of saltiness enhanced by the taste of micro pieces of burnt bacon. Yum.

So the next time you’re making breakfast, remember to put that bacon grease to good use and fry your eggs with it! It’s the perfect ingredient for versatility and flavor.
