‘NCIS’: Does Season 19 Premiere Title Give Us Any Clues About Gibbs’ Future?
Will Gibbs be safe in the NCIS Season 19 premiere?
The debut episode is titled “Blood in the Water.” Fans speculated that the title could be a hint about the beloved former NCIS agent’s future. What will his future hold? Will he recover? Fans were left with a number of questions after the Season 18 finale about his fate.
“As the NCIS team searches for Gibbs after wreckage from his boat is discovered,” the episode logline reads. “They find out he was tracking a serial killer with journalist Marcie Warren (Pam Dawber), who wrote an exposé on him.”
In the new teaser video, it seems as though Gibbs is somewhat functioning. However, he could have sustained serious injuries as we see scars on his face. He was in an explosion after all.
New photos published by TV Line confirmed that Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), Jessica Knight (Katrina Law), and Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) have all returned. Knight has been promoted to a series regular. She fills the place of Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham) as she left last season. During the season opener, Marcie Warren (Pam Dawber) will help the team uncover the truth of what happened.
‘NCIS’ Season 19 Details and Theories
Could Michael Weatherly be making a return? The Bull star recently shared a photo of him on camera, nothing new as he has his own CBS show. Though the caption sent fans into a frenzy, “#ncis Camera is King”.
NCIS showrunner Steven D. Binder recently spoke with TV Line. He teased at what’s to come this season.
“We shot a lot of different things for that [sequence], and there were a lot of different ways to cut it,” he said of the finale.
His goal was to leave “all possibilities open” for the characters, including Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
“We know he’s not dead right there,” he confirmed of Gibbs. “And we know he’s able to swim well enough…. All things are still possible with Gibbs.”
Now that the former special agent has been working solo, he has been cut off from his team. However, during the first episode back, Binder promised “that’s going to change.” All in all, he believes that Season 19 will be beloved by fans.
“What we’re trying to focus on right now is telling the best stories we can with the characters we have, and Gibbs is a part of that world,” he added. “I think we’re doing a pretty good job with that.”
NCIS season 19 premieres Monday, September 20 on CBS.
