Anderson Silva is one of the rare MMA fighters to have transitioned to boxing and found success. The former UFC champion beat Julio Cesar Chavez JR. in his debut and since then it seems the sky is the limit.
Silva isn't planning to have a long career in the squared circle. Already 46 years old, he sees himself competing a few more times before calling it a career.
Speaking to TMZ, Anderson Silva said he only wants to compete for about three more years, wanting to hang up the gloves before he turns 50.
“My goal is my last fight is 49 [years old],” Silva said. “49, I'm done. Probably, I'm done. That is my goal. Fight 3 more years and done. 49. That's the number. Maybe I can fight more, but right now my goal is when I turn 49, I stop fighting.”
In the three years, he has left in the sport, Anderson Silva has a lot of options. Many are hoping to see him compete against controversial YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul.
When asked about it, Silva didn't go the trash-talking route like many others. Instead, he came from a place of respect.
“Everything is possible. Jake Paul and Logan are doing a lot of good work in this new entertaining show. We'll see. Everything is possible. I respect both. [Jake] is doing good, working hard. So, we'll see, maybe this is possible too.”
The bout is not unrealistic for either man. Jake Paul is exactly the kind of opponent Anderson Silva would be hoping for matchup and ratings-wise, whilst Silva has the big name Paul would hope to compete against.
