New Amsterdam‘s “will they/won’t they/they finally are!” pair are getting super cozy in their favorite rooftop spot in TVLine’s exclusive photo from the Season 4 premiere.
Coming off the Season 3 finale, in which Max finally removed his wedding ring and kissed Helen, the docs can be seen passionately embracing, their faces hovering just inches from each other, in the below image. But is everything between them as seemingly perfect as it appears to be?
“They skipped over so much when they got to that door. They didn’t say anything on that long walk to [her] door together,” showrunner David Schulner notes. “There are so many things that they have left unsaid. And I can guarantee you the first thing they do when they close that door, they don’t have a conversation. So there’s a lot to unpack.”
“The audience knows more about them than they know about each other, in terms of what Sharpe was doing in London,” Schulner adds. “Max doesn’t really know any of that, about Mina, about her mom, about the clinic that she saw that she used to work at. There’s so much that they need to talk about before they can move on with each other.”
Schulner also previously told TVLine that Season 4 — which touts the tagline “Love heals” in its poster — will embrace “the joy of reclaiming our lives [and] chasing happiness wherever we can find it” following a pandemic-filled third season. The upcoming episodes are “about the people we love and holding them close and never wanting to let them go — and potentially running after them.”

I’m over here laughing at “passionately embracing, faces inches apart”…. they’ve been doing that since season 1.
But boy am I excited!! I have actual hope in these writers, producers, and actors to not royally eff this ship up!! I have a Madam Secretary married couple- sized whole in my heart, that could be soothed by some Sharpwin!
I had to laugh at that passionately embrace quote as well! Perhaps if they had given us a scene of them passionately kissing on the roof, I’m all in for that! Agree with you and other posters, let’s hope writers/producers won’t eff up this relationship. We know those actors have chemistry, so I’m not even worried about them bringing it for us in Season 4!

I think they’ve hit a sweet spot! Most shows wait till they’ve written themselves into the corner of a basement before they get their characters together! That’s not anywhere near real life…..

I just love these two together, they have such chemistry, they sizzle. She is madly in love with him and he with her. He just needs to put his guilt aside that he has found a new love and realize that his wife would want him to be happy. All I can say is that the writers better not mess up this love story.

I’ve been reading numerous Sharpwin fanfics as I wait patiently for Season 4. So many of the fanfics are absolutely brilliant. I hope my expectations aren’t too high after these reads; so, I only hope the writers have something fantastic in-store. They have some big shoes to fill/live up to after all the fanfics I’ve been reading, LOL!!

@Elian What’s wrong with Max stepping up and being the devoted father to his oneand only child/ baby daughter? This to me and I’m sure many others would agree that this is what a true man really is. Just glad he didn’t run away because he felt like he couldn’t give Luna the life he hoped for. It’s also a plus that Helen was there to encourage him to fight for what was important to him. That little push from her meant the world to him and knowing this makes her a great partner for him. Shows she cares for them both.
