Expectations are high for the Ole Miss Rebels entering this season. Lane Kiffin is entering year two as the head coach and things have seemed to settle in for the program.

On Monday night, much of that will be put to the test as Ole Miss will open their season in primetime against Louisville. They will do so without Kiffin on the sidelines, as he recently tested positive for Covid-19.

The goals for quarterback Matt Corral are sky high from Kiffin, and via ESPN, the head coach for the Rebels envisions Corral as a future first round pick.

“If Matt limits his turnovers, and unless I'm an idiot, he's going in the first round [of the NFL draft] and probably the top half of it.”

Kiffin remains giddy about what Corral could do for Ole Miss this year coming off a really impressive season in 2020 despite a bunch of turnovers. Kiffin believes his quarterback's play translates well to the NFL.

“When he does our flexibility test where he puts his arms back, it's amazing how far back he can go. He's also a very good quarterback scrambler. He's not going to be the fastest guy at the [NFL] combine, but he's got really good feet and is slippery once he starts running.”

Corral will look to lead the Rebels past Louisville in the opener and jump start the season for his squad. While Alabama and Georgia will chew up many of the SEC headlines this year and rightfully so, keep an eye on what Lane Kiffin and Matt Corral are cooking up at Ole Miss.
