The Baltimore Orioles have the worst record in the majors, but you wouldn't be able to tell that based on how they've torched the New York Yankees in a recent three-game series in the Bronx. Aaron Boone and his team won the first game of that set but proceeded to drop the last two legs, which includes Sunday's 8-7 loss. The defeat came after the Yankees' bullpen messed up in a 4-3 loss to Baltimore last Friday.

No manager of a team that's still looking to lock up a playoff spot would be happy with this kind of loss, especially when factoring in the supposedly weak quality of the opponent. Following the conclusion of the Orioles series, Boone strongly voiced out his disappointment, saying that it was per ESPN.

“Incredibly frustrating”

Boone also adds:

“We didn’t put our best foot forward the last couple of days and now we’ve got obviously a very good, hot team coming into play us and we’ve got to do better.”

The Yankees emerge from that forgettable series with a 78-58 record, still good for the top ticket to the postseason as a Wild Card entry in the American League. However, New York's skid and the Seattle Mariners' (75-62) five-game win streak have decreased the Yankees' lead atop the Wild Card race in the AL to only half a game with respect to the M's. Right behind the Yankees are the Boston Red Sox (79-60).

New York will look to get rid of the bitter taste of those setbacks at the hands of Baltimore, as the team prepares for a four-game homestand against the Toronto Blue Jays.
