Reds & Cards lose, Cubs and Braves win Sunday games

The Cincinnati Reds dropped a weekend series to Detroit falling 4-1 on Sunday. The Reds are now a half game behind San Diego for the final NL Wild Card spot. Cincinnati is back in action today at the Chicago Cubs, with pregame at 12:50 on News Radio 95.3 FM/1230 AM WHOP.

Elsewhere in the National League

Matt Duffy homered twice, including a grand slam in the third, as the Chicago Cubs bashed the Pittsburgh Pirates 11-8 at Wrigley Field. Jason Heyward and Frank Schwindel also went deep for the Cubbies, who swept the four-game series and have won six straight overall.

Daniel Vogelbach hit a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Milwaukee Brewers walked off the St. Louis Cardinals 6-5. The Redbirds return home to open a series with the Los Angeles Dodgers this afternoon.

Charlie Morton had the Colorado Rockies dancing at the plate as he struck out four and allowed just two runs over seven innings in a 9-2 Atlanta Braves win at Coors Field. The Braves are off today before hosting the Washington Nationals beginning tomorrow night.
