The Detroit Tigers have shut down two-time All-Star right-hander Julio Teheran for the rest of the season.

Teheran, 30, made only one start in his first season with Detroit. He has been on the injured list since April 10 with a right shoulder strain.

“Teheran is out for the year, so we can announce that,” Tigers manager AJ Hinch said Sunday. “He’s not currently throwing. I don’t know if he’s home or still at the Lakeland (Fla.) facility, but he’s getting a lot of opinions on what’s next for him moving forward.”

Teheran earned the win in his April 3 debut for Detroit, allowing one run on four hits in five innings in a 5-2 victory against the Cleveland Indians.

He owns a 78-77 career record with a 3.80 ERA in 240 games (236 starts) with the Atlanta Braves (2011-19), Los Angeles Angels (2020) and Tigers. He made the National League All-Star teams in 2014 and 2016.

Teheran signed a one-year deal with Detroit in free agency in February.
