Michael Greyeyes Blumhouse first look deal and Firestarter

Michael Greyeyes is one of those actors who makes you take notice of whatever project he is involved in. His portrayal of Qaletaqa Walker on Fear the Walking Dead was a character I wish we could have seen more of. Deadline is reporting that Greyeyes has recently signed a first-look deal to develop projects with Blumhouse Productions, mainly known for their production of horror films.

Recently, Greyeyes received rave reviews for his portrayal of Makwa/Michael in Wild Indian. This film was featured at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival competition and is the debut of writer/director Lyle Mitchell Corbine Jr. This film is set to release in theaters and VOD in September.

He currently stars opposite Ed Helm’s in Peacock’s comedy Rutherford Falls which has been renewed for a second season. This series is co-created and EP by Helms, Mike Schur and Sierra Teller Ornelas.

Michael Greyeyes to star in Blumhouse’s Firestarter

Greyeyes will star in Blumhouse/Weed Road/Universal’s reworking of Stephen King’s FireStarter. He will play Rainbird, a powerful man who has been pushed into a violent life. George C. Scott played this role in the original film.

The plot follows a man who must protect his daughter from The Shop, a government agency, who has learned of her pyrokinesis abilities and wants to use her gift as a weapon. The reworking film will also star Zac Efron, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Gloria Reuben and Sydney Lemmon.

The original film was released in 1984 and starred David Keith, Drew Barrymore, Freddie Jones, Heather Locklear, Martin Sheen, George C. Scott. Art Carney and Louise Fletcher.
