Pitching propels SB Cubs past Lake County
The pitching was the story for the South Bend Cubs Saturday night.
A handful of Cubs hurlers combined on a four-hitter as the hosts topped Lake County 6-3 in High A minor league baseball play at Four Winds Field.
Starter D.J. Herz picked up the win as he went five innings, allowing just one run on three hits. He fanned eight and walked two.
The Cubs five pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts and seven walks in the win.
Luis Vazquez led the Cubs offense with two hits and two RBI.
The trio of Jake Slaughter, Tyler Durna and Yonathan Perlaza each had two hits for the winners.
Micah Pries homered to lead Lake County.
