Jon Moxley Wins GCW Championship At GCW The Art Of War Games, Sets Up Death Match With Nick Gage

The GCW Universal Champion has been pinned!

On September 4 at GCW The Art of War Games, Matt Cardona issued an open challenge for his title. After berating the crowd for a few minutes, Cardona brought out his own opponent, a man that he called Chicago's premiere athlete, Frank The Clown. As you'd imagine, the bout lasted a mere seconds and ended after Cardona hit Frank with the belt and covered him with a mere boot on the chest.

G-Raver then came to the ring with a number of druids, but they were beaten up and chased away by Cardona. One druid, however, remained behind. After making a familiar motion, the masked man hit a double underhook DDT on Cardona, pinned him, and was declared the new GCW World Champion. They then revealed themselves to be Jon Moxley.

Former GCW Champion Nick Gage, who had just competed in the War Games match, then confronted Moxley and was told that if he wants the belt he knows where to find it. Gage accepted Mox's challenge and said that when they do fight, it's going to be on GCW turf. He then named October 9 in Atlantic City as the time and place for their Championship Death Match.

Gage has had issues with Moxley for a number of months, ever since Moxley showed up to confront him at GCW rSpring Break during WrestleMania week.

Moxley will be in action tomorrow, September 5 at AEW All Out where he'll be taking on Satoshi Kojima. Fightful will have live coverage of the event beginning at 7 p.m. EST with a post-show review immediately following its conclusion.
