With NBA training camps set to begin at the end of the month and then the 2021-22 season to begin shortly after, the Philadelphia 76ers are now on the clock in a sense to try and trade Ben Simmons.

They have been unable to do so the last few months since losing in the playoffs to the Atlanta Hawks, but now with Simmons verbally saying he wants out, could the Sixers look to escalate their trade process?

Through four full seasons with the 76ers, Ben Simmons has not been bad per se, as he has averaged 15.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.7 assists and has shot 56% from the floor, but his inconsistencies on the offensive end of the court are the main concern to Philadelphia’s chances of winning a title.

Their chances of doing so are slim as it is right now, especially with the likes of the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks, and now Miami Heat being real contenders in the Eastern Conference, but even head coach Doc Rivers questioned whether or not Ben Simmons could help them win a championship, as he could not answer this question after his team lost in Game 7 to the Hawks on their own home court.

This whole situation that has played out over the last few months in regards to Ben Simmons really is puzzling and while this is a toxic situation, the Sixers do need to be careful in potential trade talks for Simmons.

You do not want to give up a 3x All-Star and two-way star like him for nothing, but at the same time, you cannot price him too high, which they have this offseason, otherwise, nobody will trade for him.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Sacramento Kings both have a ton of interest in adding Ben Simmons, but neither team has the assets to offer up that the Sixers would want.

The Philadelphia 76ers want to trade for Damian Lillard, but he seems to be unavailable right now, so where do they go from here? Maybe the Warriors could offer up a decent-sized trade package, but what about the Toronto Raptors?

The offseason was not kind to Toronto, as they lost Kyle Lowry and seem to be somewhat rebuilding, but at the same time, this team could be one All-Star away from also being a contending team in the Eastern Conference.

Philly may not want to keep Simmons in their same conference and division, but the Raptors could be willing to part ways with one of their All-Star-level players for Simmons.
