Ex-Atlanta Hawks guard Kris Dunn is on the move again.
At the start of free agency Kris Dunn was an important member of the Atlanta Hawks. His contribution to the team was much greater than anything he did throughout the regular season. What did he do? He got traded which was the move that the Hawks had to make given his salary and his level of production.
Dunn was sent, along with Bruno Fernando to the Boston Celtics. In return, the Hawks received Tristan Thompson who they then sent to the Sacramento Kings, receiving Delon Wright in return. This was a savvy move of a team looking to fix their reserve point guard issues.
This move also appeared to make the Celtics stronger defensively as Dunn is one of the best defensive point guards in the league at the moment. However, it was not to be, the Celtics moved Dunn on via trade in order to bolster their big man stocks.

Dunn was traded along with Carsen Edwards and a 2026 second-round draft pick to the Memphis Grizzlies and the Celtics received forward Juan Hernangomez who needed a fresh start after falling out with his old club, the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Grizzlies were also the trade destination for another ex-Hawks guard Rajon Rondo. The veteran, who was traded last season at the deadline for Lou Williams was traded by the LA Clippers to the Grizzlies before they agreed to buy him out. He was looking for a new home before signing on again with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Dunn will replace the play of Patrick Beverley who was also sent over by the Clippers in the Rondo trade. Beverley was sent to the Timberwolves as part of the Hernangomez trade. It is interesting that two members of the Hawks franchise from last season could be key pieces in a trade that involves three teams, none of which were the Hawks.

The Hawks will be grateful that Dunn s out of the conference. He was going to present problems for the franchise when he matched up on Young and now this will not happen as often next season.
