Letter proves that civil discourse is dead (letter to the editor)

The following is from Norman Ladner’s Letter to the Editor (8/24/21): “I remember Republican politicians saying if they were old they would gladly die so the grandkids could go to school. Now that more youngsters are getting sicker, who should die next? I suggest Republican politicians.”

First, I don’t recall any Republican expressing such sentiment. I don’t have the time on my hands that Mr. Ladner does, so maybe he can tell us which Republican actually said such a statement. But, secondly, his comment of wishing death upon someone merely for being of the opposing party is the rantings of someone with a very ugly soul.

But, worse yet, it is not uncommon from the left. Civil discourse is dead in America.
