The San Diego Padres activated right-hander Jake Arrieta from the 10-day injured list to start Friday night’s game against the visiting Houston Astros.

Arrieta sustained a mild strain of his left hamstring during his Padres debut against the Colorado Rockies on Aug. 18. He allowed five runs and seven hits over 3 1/3 innings while taking the loss.

Padres manager Jayce Tingler told reporters prior to the game that Arrieta is fully recovered from the injury.

“The last two bullpens he’s thrown have been basically full throttle,” Tingler said. “He’s been able to step on the gas and be able to really test that hamstring. … We feel (that) he is in a good spot.”
