A husband and wife were killed in a plane crash in Connecticut
Will Shrauner, 32, had ties to Oklahoma City.
Family spokesman Matthew Mitchell, senior pastor of Church of the Servant Oklahoma City, was with Shrauner’s father, and he discussed his son's family as he processed the loss.
“They met together in med school, they loved medicine, they're both cardiologists … they love serving people, being a part of medicine, they loved life, they love helping people, you know, have a great life. And you can see in these pictures that you know their big giant smiles, I mean just, I mean, wow, what a great couple,” Mitchell said.
Servant hearts, Will and Courtney Shrauner created a life together in Boston. Will was raised in Oklahoma. He attended Oklahoma State University as an undergraduate.
“It was something none of us could have ever been prepared for,” Mitchell said. “The family, is you know, like all of us right now, and a little bit of shock, a great deal of shock, actually, just you'd never could have gone into a normal Thursday, start of the school year, and go to lunch and then expect to receive this news that your beloved son and daughter-in-law. Their lives ended in a horrible airplane accident yesterday.”
The couple leaves behind their 1-year-old son.
“He was going to have another sister,” Mitchell said.
Another baby was on the way.
"I know this is hard and then to have a baby that a grandchild is part of this, He's just, even though the baby wasn't here yet the baby, you start to make plans, and it's just as it's, it's hard for everyone right now,” Mitchell said.
Mitchell was finally able to hug his friend today, following the news.
"I'm so sorry and I love you brother. I love you brother. I'm here with you. Anything we can do,” Mitchell said. “He just said, ‘Thank you.’ We just kind of enjoy the moment of silence for a minute, just as we just, you know, we embrace like brothers do.”
Mitchell’s prayers for the Shrauner family:
“We know that there will be moments of heartbreak and anger. Just so much that we can't even express with our words, but just in the midst of it that they find the peace of Christ."
Will’s father said those who want to help can bring cars and messages of love to the church.
