A flash-flood warning for the area of the Grizzly Creek fire scar shut down Interstate 70 through Glenwood Canyon on Friday afternoon.

The National Weather Service in Grand Junction issued the warning at 4:14 p.m. Friday. It was initially posted to run through 7:15 p.m., but the warning expired early.

CDOT reopened the highway in both directions at about 6:30 p.m.

The canyon has been shut down to traffic several times this summer because of damaging slides. Weather warnings prompt shutdowns for safety precautions.
