The New York Knicks are ready to bring their revamped roster into the 2021-22 NBA season and build off of their success from last year.

Two weeks ago, the NBA announced every team’s schedule for next season. We’ve officially entered the lull period where the NBA draft, free agency, and summer league are over. All that’s left is offseason workout videos and anticipation for next year.

Can the New York Knicks improve from last season?

Preseason expectations are going to be very different than they were this time last year.

Heading into the 2020-21 season, there really weren’t any expectations. It was the first season for an entirely new coaching staff and front office. New York was projected to be a bottom-dwelling team and fans were simply banking on seeing growth from the team’s younger players.

Now here we are in September of 2021 and the mindset is to build off of the team’s 1st round playoff exit.

It wasn’t just an 8 seed getting swept by a clear favorite 1st seed, this was a team that had homecourt in the first round of the playoffs but were still completely overmatched. New York is hoping the new additions of Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier, along with getting Mitchell Robinson back in their lineup, can propel them to a deeper playoff run.

First, they have to get to the playoffs.

Getting off to a fast start is important. The New York Knicks will have a lot of naysayers and critics wondering whether or not last season was just a fluke.

Let’s get into the first 10 games of the year and see how the Knicks can realistically start their season.
