Atlanta’s just going to keep making moves every day until the season begins at the rate they’re going. Today, they’ve added outside linebacker James Vaughters and wide receiver Keelan Doss to the practice squad and have waived running back D’Onta Foreman. That’s a full 16 man practice squad, one that will likely change and change again over the next week or so.

Vaughters was previously reported earlier today by D. Orlando Ledbetter at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, so Doss is the new name. The 23-year-old wide receiver was something of a surprise undrafted free agent in 2019, as more than a few outlets projected him to go as early as the 5th round owing to his size, hands and quality college career. He was picked up originally by the Raiders, and aside from a week or so spent with the Jaguars, he’s spent his entire career there. Doss has 11 catches for 133 yards in his career, with all of that production coming in 2019.

He’s the third receiver to join the practice squad, along with Juwan Green and rookie Austin Trammell, and his size and youth make him intriguing enough to stick for a little bit if he can impress in practice.

The corresponding move here is D’Onta Foreman. The Falcons are evidently not bringing back Qadree Ollison, at least for now, and with Wayne Gallman in the fold they’re evidently comfortable going with just one running back (Caleb Huntley) on the practice squad. Foreman will hope a couple of decent preseason games can get him a look elsewhere.

Of course, none of this is set in stone. The Falcons are still somewhat surprisingly carrying three quarterbacks on the roster and tight end Parker Hesse, who has ties to Arthur Smith dating back to their shared days in Tennessee, will come off the reserve/COVID-19 list and may push someone off the practice squad.

Give Doss a warm welcome, and we’ll see what moves are ahead for this ever-shifting Falcons team.
