The Royal Opera House has announced details of its “Schools’ Matinees” program, which will bring opera and ballet to over 10,000 students between the ages of 5-18 across 260 schools.

These students will get a chance to witness six performances at the Royal Opera House, starting with Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” directed by David McVicar. Pupils will even be invited to sing along to the parts of “Pa-Pa-Pa-Papageno” duet.

In addition to “The Magic Flute,” primary school students will be invited to performances of “Giselle,” “The Nutcracker,” and “Swan Lake” while secondary schools will get a chance to see “Romeo and Juliet” and “La Traviata.”

“We are delighted to be once again welcoming schools to the Royal Opera House, introducing a new generation to the very best of a spectacular new season. Our Schools’ Matinees program is at the very core of our commitment to widening access to both opera and ballet. It is set to be spectacular,” said Jillian Barker, Director of Learning and Participation in a press release.
